With Mother's Day approaching, we spoke to Anastasia about the generations of Motherhood in her family & what being a Mother means to her.

What does being a Mother mean to you?

It means the world! It's a kind of unconditional love that I have never experienced before and it's so hard to put in words. Being a mum to my little girl is probably one of the greatest things in my life and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to become a mother. Don't get me wrong - at times it's tiring, exasperating and you lose a bit of yourself in the sacrifices you have to make - but in the long run its without a single doubt worth it all.

Do you have a favourite memory of growing up with your Grandmother?

My grandmother was always so gentle and soft spoken, I always felt a calm when around her. I think my favourite memories are of her cooking!

What is the most important thing you have learned from your Mother?

To be an independent women who focuses on hard work and earns for herself.  My mum always said there is nothing wrong with strength and opinions but always be kind.  I think given how my life has panned out  - being a single mum having to support my daughter on my own - that has saved me and made my life today so much better than if I hadn't had that lesson instilled in me!

What is your daughter's relationship with your Mother?

That bond is so so special!  My mother is very spiritual but very naughty. She takes my daughter on adventures and Ella just loves it. Their personalities are so similar its mind boggling. Strong and savvy - they are thick as thieves together.

What moments are you most proud of your daughter?

When she pushes through things that scare her. My daughter is a tom boy - She is the only girl in a group that plays football  - she is tackled often - many tears - but she has not given up. She is a little determined fighter and I love that look of determination on her face. Long may it last. I also love that Ella has such a kind nurturing side - she will take care of all animals and younger children - she wants to nurture them all. Those two different sides are what I love to see in her and I become so proud!

What is the best thing about being a Mum?

Cuddles! I love my cuddles and the "mummy I love you" in the morning and last thing at night. The best thing is all the love that just fills you heart. It's unreal and I wouldn't trade that for the world.
